Mating of dusky dolphins usually takes place during austral spring.
Gestation lasts for about 1 year. They produce one young per birth, the
newborn dolphins weight about 5kg and are about 60cm long. The lactation
period lasts for more than 1 year (up to 18 months). Sexual maturity in
females is reached at 4 - 6 years,
for males this is not known.
